LOTTERY
THE numbers drawn were 9, 10, 19 and 27 for a jackpot of €10,000. There was no winner of the jackpot. The lucky dip winners were as follows: €50 Annette O’Sullivan, Listowel; €40 Michael O’Grady, Rathkeale; €30 each to the following: Anne Friel, Niamh Hogan and P. Hanlon. The ten free tickets went to Dan, Joe and Maggie, Abbeyfeale. Next week’s jackpot will be €10,150.

PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK
The St. Senan’s annual Knock pilgrimage takes place on Tuesday, July 29. A bus will be leaving Foynes at 8am. Mass will take place at the Shrine at 1.15pm. The cost of the pilgrimage is €15.

ART EXHIBITION
Paul Weerasekera’s one-man exhibition is on until July 29. Paul is a member of Limerick Art Society. There are paintings of Foynes old train station, Foynes port and other Irish landscapes on display. The opening times of the Library are Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 12.30pm, Wednesday to Friday 4pm to 8pm and Tuesday to Thursday from 2.30pm to 5pm. Contact 069 65365 for further information.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL
The results of Shanagolden Community Council cards are as follows: First prize with 11 games were T Donovan and J Bridgeman; 2nd with 8 games were John Danaher and Nellie O’Mahony. The table prizes were won by Donie and James, and Mary Clifford and Mrs Nolan. The raffle prizes were won by John O’Malley, Mary Clifford (2) and Mrs Nolan. The winners of the lottery tickets were Jerry Lenihan and John Dolan. Cards are held on every Friday night at 9.15pm sharp and all are welcome.

SYMPATHY
The death took place during the week of Mrs Nora O’Keeffe, nee Sexton, Pallaskenry. Deepest sympathy is tendered to her daughter Kay Madigan, West End, Shanagolden, sons Canon Tony O’Keeffe P.P., Shanagolden/Foynes parish, John O’Keeffe, brother Peter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends. Removal took place from her daughter Kay Madigan’s residence on Wednesday evening at 8pm to Kilcornan church. Burial took place in Kilcornan cemetery after 12noon Mass. May she rest in peace.
The death also took place during the week of Mrs MARY Ita Dillane, Clashganiffe, Shanagolden. Deepest Sympathy is tendered to her daughters Kay Woulfe, Joan Meehan, Marian Yamac and son Donal, sons-in-law, grandchildren, relatives and friends. Removal took place on Thursday night from Madigan’s funeral home to St Senan’s Church, Shanagolden. Burial took place on Friday in Kilmoylan cemetery after 11.30am Mass. May she rest in Peace.

IRISH WATER SAFETY
Foynes Swimming Pool is the venue for swimming and water safety classes organised by Limerick County Water Safety Committee. The classes begin on Monday morning, July 21 and finish on Saturday, July 26. Enrolment is on Monday morning at 9.30am and the fee is €30. More classes in the area are as follows: Pallaskenry, July 28 to August 2, at 10am, lifesaving only. Glin, August 11 to 16, with enrolment at 10am. RUGBY
Estuary Rugby Football Club are holding their summer camp in the Sportsfield, Shanagolden from Tuesday, August 12 to Friday, August 15, from 10am to 1pm daily. The camp is for boys and girls from 6 to 16 years and the cost is €40 per child, €70 for two or more. Details available from club members.

SOCCER CLUB
The newly formed soccer club Shannonside Football Club had their first meeting in the Shannon House on Thursday evening last. The new club sees the amalgamation of Foynes Soccer Club and Shanagolden to form a new and stronger club. The meeting was very well attended and the new club hope to enter teams from U-8 up to junior level in the Limerick Desmond League.
