THE GRAND KINGDOM TOUR
On Monday, May 18, we will be departing
the Market Yard, Newcastlewest for a
grand tour of the beauty spots in County
Kerry. The Kingdom Tour will be resplendent

TRIP TO CAPE CLEAR, WEST CORK
We will leave the Courtenay Lodge at
7.30pm on Sunday, May 17 for a trip to
Cape Clear, West Cork. We will collect payment
for same on Friday, May 8 from
10.30am-noon in the Parish Pastoral

their recent wedding in Lady Chapel
Church, Maynooth, Co. Kildare. The reception

KNOCK SHRINE
This year marks the 130th anniversary of
Knock with the various ceremonies running
from April 26 to October 11. This years
summer youth festival takes place from
July 23-26 and is strictly for 18-35 years.

CONFINED MEMBERS DRAW
West Limerick 102FM radio are organising
a confined members draw for six months
for a prize fund of b6000. The first draw
will be held in May and the first prize will
be b500, second prize will be 200 and
there will be three prizes of b100.
Proceedings from the draw will go towards
the day to day running of the station. Your
support for this worthy cause will be greatly
appreciated.

COUNTY ENTERPRISE COURSES
Joe Wallace who is a Fianna Fail candidate
for the upcoming elections has been in
touch to confirm that he has got agreement
from the County Limerick Enterprise
board to hold two of their most relevant
courses in the Glin/Estuary area,, subject
to numbers. The courses are enterprise
Board’s Career Makeover and Start Your
Own Business. These are ideal for the anyone
newly employed, on short time or considering
upskilling or changing career. This
will be the first time that the County
Enterprise Board have held courses in the
Shannon Estuary area. Interested participants

ALZHEIMERS
The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland are
requesting volunteers to hold a tea day at
work or at home on Thursday, May 7 to collect
much needed funds for all persons
with Alzheimer’s and their carers. All who
wish to register for a tea party and receive

LOURDES
The Limerick Diocese Pilgrimage to
Lourdes will take place from Sunday, June
21 to Friday, June 26. This year the pilgrimage
will be led by Bishop Donal Murray and
the fare is b695. All interested in travelling,

SPORTING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL
Limerick City Sports Partners is offering
sports and physical activities for children
and adults with disabilities. The Wheelers
Get Out, Get Active Program will take place
7-8pm at Scoil Mhuire agus Ide, Newcastle
West each Thursday from April 16-June 4.

ST.SENAN’S SOCIAL SERVICES PILGRIMAGE
St. Senan’s Social Services Senior Citizen’s
Pilgrimage to the Fr. Patrick Peyton CSC.,
Memorial Centenary celebration at
Attymass, Ballina, Co. Mayo will take place
on Thursday, May 7 . Bus leaves Foynes at
8am and mass will be held in the Fr.
Peyton Centre. The fare is 17. Contact

ST. SENAN’S NATIONAL SCHOOL
There was great excitement in St.Senan’s
National School recently when the school
team won the West Cumann na mBunscoil
mini-sevens competition on St.Senan’s GAA
pitch. The home team defeated the school
team from Croagh.

The Newcastle West Medugorje Prayer
Group are organising a Pilgrimage to
Medugorje from August 1-8, departing from

WEST LIMERCK TOAST MASTERS
The local club meet at the Desmond
Complex, Newcastle West on the first and
third Wednesday of each month from
September to June at 8.30pm.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP
The bereavement support group are holding
a celebration of light for those
bereaved by suicide. The ceremony will
take place on Friday, May 15 at 8.15pm in
the Church of the immaculate Conception,
Newcastle West. Sister Margaret O’Sullivan
of Console and Mr. Dan Neville, president
of the Suicideology will attend. We will also
ask that if you wish to bring a photo of
your loved one with you to the ceremony to
be placed on the table of remembrance.

NATIONAL ROSARY PILGRIMAGE
The National Rosary Pilgrimage Day in
Knock will take place on June 6. A bus will
leave Shanagolden at 7.30am and a second
pick up in Foynes. Returning for 9pm.

BEALTINE FESTIVAL FILM SCREENING
As part of the celebrations for this years
Bealtine Festival, the film “Miss Pettigrew
Lives for a Day” will be screened in various
film clubs around the country, including
the Newcastle West Film Club. The screening
will take place in the Desmond Complex

ST.SENAN’S COMMUNITY GAMES
U15 boys rounders - manager Eamonn
Nestor. The boys had a great win against
our only challengers at county level. The
boys beat Rathkeale un Shanagolden
recently.
U12 boys soccer - manager Gerard
Danagher. The boys had their first match in
Shanagolden last Saturday. They had a
great game and beat Crecora/Patrickswell.

SYMPATHY
Sympathy is extended to the family and
friends of Sean Joyce, Main Street, Foynes
who passed away last week. His remains
were removed from his residence in Foynes
to Foynes Church at 8pm on Thursday.
Requiem mass took place at 11am on
Friday and burial took place in Kilcolman
Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

CHARITY DANCE
A charity dance (ceile and old-time) run by
the Carrickerry Wrenboys in aid of the
Dropmcollogher Respite Care Centre will
take place in Rathkeale House Hotel on
Saturday, May 9, at 9.30pm, music by
Tailor’s Cross plus wrenboy musicians.
Tickets are 8 each, available form
Wrenboy members.

VINTAGE RALLY
The Annual Athea Vintage Rally has now
been put back a week to Sunday, May 17.
