ESTUARY RUGBY CLUB FUN DAY

There will be a family sports day on Sunday, August 16 from 3-6pm at Shanagolden Sports Field with lots of fun and games including Tag Rugby. Adults and kids teams, throw the welly competition, drop goal and kicking competition, fun obstacle course, bouncing castle etc. Food and beverages on the day. Contact Joe Hoyne on 087-6327109

SUMMER CAMP

The Estuary Rugby Club Summer Camp at Sha4nagolden Sports Field will be held on Tuesday, August 18-21 for boys and girls aged 6-16, 10am – 1pm. Cost: 1 Family Member €40, 2 or more family members €70. Children must bring a packed lunch and plenty of drinks each day. Gum shields are compulsory and will be available from Estuary RFC. Summer Camp commences with Registration on Tuesday morning. All students must provide a parents or guardians contact number. CARER OF THE YEAR

Each year the Carer’s Association holds the Carer’s of the Year Awards to acknowledge and reward family carers for the tireless work they carry out every day. People can nominate online at www.carersireland.com, collect a nomination from their local carer centre or call 056-7753600.

LIMERICK CITY SPORTS PARTNERSHIP

The Limerick City Sports Partnership will be running a number of clubs and sessions for children and adults with disabilities throughout July and August. WATER SAFETY FOYNES

The Life Saving and Swimming Lessons will take place in Foynes Swimming Pool on two different weeks in July and August. The first week is from July 20-25 with a 9am start, the second week is from August 17-22 with a 9am start.

SUMMER OUTING

A musical bus to Kilkee will depart from the top of Assumpta Park, NCW on Saturday, August 15 at 9am. They will take the Ferry and have morning coffee and dancing at the Old Brogue, Killimer, then to Kilkee and return to Kilrush for afternoon ceile, winding up in Belsfort for more dancing. ST. SENAN’S GAA

Well done to the local Senior Football team who drew 1-12 with County and Munster Champions Drom-Broadford in the second round of the County Championship. This was a hard fought battle and with a bit of luck could have come away with full points. All of the panel are asked to give an extra effort in training for the next couple of weeks as it is vital to our progress in the championship.

FLOWER SHOW

The Annual Flower and Craft Show will be held in Newcastle West on Wednesday, August 12 and Thursday, August 13, celebrating it’s 40th Anniversary.

TRAD FEILE

The Trad Feile goes ahead on the August Bank Holiday Weekend in Athea. Last year the event ran at a loss but this years sponsorship is being sought from business people in Athea and lovers of traditional culture in west limerick. For €20 patrons and their details will be published in the program of events. Contact Committee members and local businesses for details.

CAR BOOT SALE & INDOOR MARKET

The monthly fundraising carboot sale and market in aid of WL102FM took place recently in excellent weather conditions. There were over 40 stalls selling everything from new potatoes to gramophone records to plants to china. Thanks to all for your supported. The next car boot sale will be held on Sunday, August 9 at the Community Centre, Newcastle West.

FOYNES & DISTRICT FISHING & PLEASURE BOAT CLUB

A large and enthusiastic group turned up at Foynes Community Centre recently to discuss the setting up of a club to facilitate boat owners and anglers. There were many items discussed including a slipway to launch boats, setting up a rescue boat for the Shannon Estuary, improving facilities from shore and off-shore fishing, possible funding for new pontoons and marinas. The elected officers: Chairman Patrick Moran, secretary, Seamus Curtin, vice secretary, Peter Enright, treasurer, Eamon Moran, committee, Laurence O’Connell and Oliver Moran.

FATIMA PILGRIMAGE

A special West Limerick pilgrimage to Fatima will take place, departing September 10 with full board for 5 nights, taking in September 13, celebrating the anniversary of one of the famous apparitions and accompanied by a spiritual director. CHARITY CEILE

A fund raising ceile will take place at Rathkeale house Hotel on Friday, July 24 at 9.30pm with music by Tailors Cross Ceile Band. This charity fund raiser has been organised by Aidan O’Keefee, Park Ballyhahill & Damien O’Kane, Creeves who have volunteered to travel over 4000 miles to Haiti in October to help build houses for this deeply poverty stricken area. Admission €10, tickets available at the door.

ESTUARY SWIM

Our annual Estuary Swim goes ahead on Sunday, August 2 at 3pm. This years funds go to St. Gabriel’s Special School for Autism. Pease register will Maria 087-2418562 before Thursday, July 16. Sponsor cards available at the same number and lifeguards at Glin Pier.
