CARDS
First prize on 9 games went to Bridie Moroney and Bridie McManus. Second prize divided by two couples on 8 games each went to Mai Wall and Joan Fitzgibbon and John Danaher and Jimmy Langan. MASS FOR EXAM STUDENTS
St.Senan’s parish are running a special Exam Mass for all students on Monday, June 1 at 7.30pm in Shanagolden Church. All the parish are invited and a special invitation is issued to all exam students and their parents. Any students wishing to take part in this mass can do so by giving their names to any of tour priests or any member of the pastoral council.

DYSLEXIA AWARENESS PARENT SUPPORT WORKSHOP
West Limerick Resources in association with Dyslexia Awareness Mid-West Parent Support Group are running a parent support workshop in the Desmond Complex, Newcastle West on Saturday, June 13 from 10am-4pm. Topics include what is dyslexia, helping with homework and supporting your child with reading, writing and spelling. It's free and a light lunch will be provided. Registration essential. LIMERICK IN BLOOM COMPETITION
The Limerick in Bloom Competition is run by Limerick County Council and aims to encourage community involvement in the improvement and enhancement of the visual impact of settlements by means of flowers, tree and shrub planting. Judging will take place form mid July to mid August. The overall winner will receive €1500. Closing date Friday, May 29. NOVENA IN HONOUR OF ST ANTHONY
St. Anthony’s Novena will be held at St. John’s Cathedral, Limerick, June 5-3 inclusive. Mass each day at 10am and 5.45pm except Saturday. 10am and 6.30pm and Sunday 10.30am and 7pm with novena prayers,homily and blessing with relic. Mass offered for all who are making the novena and all who put their petitions. The Novena Director is Fr. Colm Loughran, OFM.

KNOCK SHRINE
This year marks the 130th anniversary of Knock with the various ceremonies running from April 26 to October 11. This years summer youth festival takes place from July 23-26, strictly for 18-35 years. €70/free buses. As places are limited you are advised to book as soon as possible. VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS NEWCASTLE WEST
Transport volunteers to help insure safety are required to accompany athletes on the bus before and after training on Wednesdays between 6-9pm. The volunteers will be picked up at a place that suit’s the driver, route and volunteer. If interestedm, volunteers also welcome to take part in training the athletes in Bocce between 7-8pm. All volunteers, must undergo a Garda vetting procedure. Contact Paul on 069-79079.

Joe Wallace, a Fianna Fail candidate for the upcoming elections has been in touch to confirm that he has got agreement from the County Limerick Enterprise board to hold two of their most relevant courses in the Glin/Estuary area,, subject to numbers. The courses are enterprise Board’s Career Makeover and Start Your Own Business. These are ideal for the anyone newly employed, on short time or considering upskilling or changing career. This will be the first time that the County Enterprise Board have held courses in the Shannon Estuary area. Interested participants should contact John at 087-2571085 as soon as possible.

SPORTING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL

Camp Bosco 2009 will take place at Salesian College, Pallaskenry for 3 weeks from Monday, July 6 up to and including Friday, July 24 from Monday to Friday from 1.30 to 5.30 pm. €75 per week, with specials available for siblings and a 3 week special offer.
