LOTTERY
THERE was no winner of the jackpot of €11,500. The numbers drawn were 8, 14, 17 and 20. Next week’s jackpot will be worth €11,650. The lucky dip winners were as follows: €50 James Carmody, Ballybunion; €40 Pat Molyneaux, Askeaton; €30 each to the following: Janet Hennessey, Parkview; Ann White, Rathkeale and Joe O’Sullivan, Shanagolden. The ten free tickets went to Margaret O’Donoghue, Listowel.

CARDS
The first prize on ten went to Peter and Ene Donovan. Second prize was divided by two pairs on eight games Timmy Murphy and David O’Connor, Pat Hastings and Francis Woulfe. The table prizes were won by John Mulvihill and Vinnie Wrenn, Jim Langan and John Danaher. The raffle prize went to Maire Wrenn, Irene Donovan, Brid Guerin, Jack Higgins and John Danaher. The winners of the lottery tickets were Donie and James and Pat Hastings. Cards are held every Friday night at 9.15pm sharp. A minutes silence was held in memory of the late Tess Walker who played cards in the Parish Hall every Friday night. May she rest in peace.

POKER CLASSIC
There will be a Poker Classic in aid of Operation Mwalimu, Terry’s Children Home, Nairobi, Kenya held in the Rathkeale House Hotel on Saturday, October 4, at 9.30pm sharp. It will cost €50 to play and food will be served. There will be side games to suit all players. Enquiries to Mike Neville on 087 6567351. WORLD HEALTH DAY
St. Senan’s Social Services welcome you to World Heart Day on Sunday, October 5. They are holding a sponsored walk in the Alcan Sports Complex beginning at 2pm. Anyone interested in ‘Lets Go Walking’ contact Teresa Donnelly or Anna Curtin.

FOYNES BADMINTON
Don’t forget we are back on Monday and Wednesday nights from 8pm to 10pm. Venue: Foynes Community Centre. We are taking part in Limerick League competitions. New members are very welcome, male and female. For more information contact 061 398063.

MUNSTER MASCOT
Foynes Rugby supporter Leanne Fitzsimons had the great honour of being Munster Mascot for the game against Cardiff Blues before a huge crowd in Musgrave Park, Cork on Saturday evening. Leanne had the honour of walking out with captain Paul O’Connell to a huge reception at kick-off time. She got a chance to meet all her favourite rugby players including Ronan O’Gara and Peter Stringer. She had a great evening and Munster completed a successful event with a win.

ESTUARY RUGBY
Estuary Rugby Club are starting a Club Development Draw which runs for six months from September to January 2009. Each month there are some incredible prices including premium tickets to the best Munster and International matches. As well as the opportunity to win these prizes the draw will greatly benefit the club development. The draw will take place on the last Saturday of each month and cost €5 per month or €30 once off. There is a special draw for Munster v All Blacks.

ART EXHIBITION
Keith O’Rahilly presents ‘Internal’, a series of paintings (oil or canvas) based on interpretations of the rural Co. Limerick and Co. Kerry landscape. This exhibition will be opened by Joan McKernan, Co. Limerick Arts Officer at the Newcastle west Library on October 9, at 8pm. All are welcome.
Keith O’Rahilly is currently an Art teacher at Desmond College at second and third level, as well as teaching adult painting by night, also at Desmond College. He is a native of Limerick City and is now settled along with his family, Ann and Hannah, on the outskirts of Newcastle west. “I am nervous and delighted to share this body of work, two years in the making, with the local community” he said. This exhibition is produced in association with West Limerick Arts Committee, co-ordinated by Vicki Nash.

COUNTRY MARKET
A country market is being held in Glin Square on Saturday, October 4. This is in aid of the refurbishment of Glin GAA Clubhouse. It is hoped that local people would like to take a table for themselves at a cost of €10. If not, smaller donations of farm produce, cakes, etc., would be gratefully accepted and very much appreciated. It is the coursing weekend and hopefully the weather will continue to be fine and this should add to the atmosphere of the weekend. Tables will be provided. SOCCER
Shannonside FC; Abbey A 2, Shannonside A 5.
Shannonside A travelled to play Abbey in the Munster Junior Cup on Sunday, minus five regulars but still came away with a morale boosting win over their Premier Division opponents.
Creeves 6, Shannonside B 0.
The B team’s unlucky start to the season continued when they lost 6-0 to Creeves.

LOTTERY RESULTS
The following are results of the lottery. The numbers drawn were 2, 3, 8 and 16. There was one winner – Joanne O’Connor, Lissane. Lucky dips: Tom Ward, Foynes; Collette Griffin, Loughill, John Jnr. Loughnane, Pa Gaynor.
Foynes, the next draw will be held at the Yankee Clipper on Monday, September 9, for a jackpot of €3,000.
