CARDS
First prize on eleven games went to John Wall
and Marie Wrenn. Second prize divided by
two pairs on seven games each went to Mai
Wall and Partner and Jim Lynch and Peg
Muvihill and Jack Woulfe and Mike
Robinson.Table prizes went to Mary Barrett
and Nora Doore, John Wall and Marie Wrenn.
Raffle winners were Willie Keating, Jim

FOYNES NATIONAL
SCHOOL CALENDAR

The school calendar has been a great success
over the last few years. The children and Mrs.
B are currently working on the 2010 calendar.
Last year’s edition sold out and you will find it
on the walls of most kitchens in the village.
This year we are hoping that the local businesses
will place ads in the calendar. The ads

WOMEN’S CHOIR
The local community women’s choir Allude
are welcoming new members to join the choir
in the Foynes Flying Boat Museum every
Tuesday evening from 7.30-9pm. No experience
is needed just a desire to sing in a group
for fun and enjoyment. This initiative is funded
by Limerick County Council Arts Office. For

ST. SENAN’S SOCIAL
SERVICES

The Monday night exercises have resumed in
the Community Centre, Foynes at 8pm. The
Tuesday drop in centre has also resumed at
2pm every week where participants will have
the usual bingo, chat, craic and a cup of tea
.
OLDER PEOPLE’S NETWORK
West Limerick Resources aims to establish a
network for older peoples groups to help
inform the company’s strategy in relation to
future initiatives in the area. The first meeting
will take place in Newcastle West on
Thursday, October 22 from 2.30-4.30pm. Here
West Limerick Resources will provide an
overview of the variety of supports currently
available in the community. For more information

BEGINNERS COMPUTER
CLASSES

A 6 week beginners computer course will
start in the Shanagolden Education Resource
Centre on Wednesday, November 4 from 7.30-
9.30pm. Free for those in receipt of Social
Welfare payments including Job Seekers and

SALSA CLASSES IN
SHANAGOLDEN

A limited number of free places are available
for Salsa Classes in the Health & Wellness
Centre, Shanagolden. Subsidized by the
County Limerick Local Sports Partnership,
these places are open to people in receipt of
social welfare including jobs seekers, lone
parents and pensioners for 6 weeks period
starting Wednesday, October 28. Contact

EXERCISE CLASSES IN
SHANAGOLDEN

A limited number of places are available for
exercise classes in the Health and Wellness
Centre, Shanagolden. These places are open
to people parenting alone, long term unemployed
and county council house residents.
This project is funded by the County Limerick

CONTRIBUTION TO
SPORTS AWARD

This award aims to honor a volunteer member
of a County Limerick based sports or community
group who has made an exceptional contribution
to sport at local level. The successful
candidate will receive a special commemorative

SHANID COMHALTAS GROUP
The group have resumed music classes on
Thursday at Shangolden Hall from 7-9pm. All
musicians and beginners welcome. The classes
cater for all age groups.

FOYNES YOUTH CLUB
Foynes Youth Club resumes every Friday from
8-10pm.

ST.SENAN’S GAA CLUB
Limerick Teams of the 25 years: The Limerick
County Boards are asking it’s supporters to
pick the best hurling and football team of the
last 25years. They are offering two tickets to
this gala evening with over night stay in the
Strand Hotel. The club is proud to have 2
nominees in Conor Mullane at left half back
and Ian Ryan at centre forward. We urge
everyone to vote for these players as much as
possible

ALL IRELAND AIR
AMBULANCE TRUST

The AIAA is proposing to put 3 air ambulances
in the air in Ireland. A recycling bank has
been placed in the community centre car
park, NCW. Please support by donating
unwanted clothes, textiles, footwear etc.

BADMINTON
Badminton takes place every Monday and
Wednesday night in Foynes Community Centre
from 8-10pm. Adults b4, Over 15’s b2. Male
and female beginners are welcome so come
and enjoy for the competition and craic! We
will be registering our league teams very

KARATE
Karate classes take place in Foynes
Community Centre every Thursday from
7-8pm.

ESTUARY RUGBY CLUB
Estuary Rugby Club is up and running for the
new season and new underage players are
welcome to join. Please attend sports field,
Shanagolden on Sundays at 10.30am.
The club are holding a club development draw
for the next 6 months to raise much needed
funds with a great selection of prizes for winners.

FOYNES & DISTRICT SEARCH
AND RESCUE UNIT

Foynes and District Search and Rescue Unit is
currently looking for volunteers to join and
help with the setting up of the newly formed
club. The club is hoping to gather names of
people willing to train and become volunteers

NEWS FROM SALESIAN
SECONDARY COLLEGE

Evening courses in Traditional Music have
commenced in the college on Mondays.
Choristers also meet to hone their vocal skills
and if life savers are interested you will also
find tuition in the college pool. Call school

Sixth Year LCVP Group are running a talent
competition - Copsewood’s Got Talent –
singing, dancing etc. over the next couple of
weeks - No age limit. All students of the
school are welcome to participate. Entry

Credit union in conjunction with Cois Sionna
Credit Union Ltd. Will continue to open on
Tuesday at 1.30pm in Room 7, Mr. Lavin’s.

WEST SCOR NA NOG FINALS
The West Scor a nOg Finals will take place at
St. Molua’s Hall, Ardagh on Sunday, November
22 at 2.30pm.

SCHOOL OF MUSIC AND
PERFORMING ARTS

The Glorach Theatre will be the venue for a
new programme of classes in piano, violin,
viola, cello, double bass, concert flute, traditional
flute, tin whistle, recorder, clarinet,
saxophone, drum kit, guitar, ballet, modern
dance and music theatre being offered by

CALLING BEETHOVEN FANS
The Autumn Music at Castleconnell Series has
begun and every second Tuesday evening
until December 8 the featured composer is
Beethoven at Castleconnell’s Church of All
Saints and tickets are available at the door
